Instructors who are interested in separating the student's first and last name into separate columns can enable this feature. If a user has a preferred name that is different from their legal name, the legal name is displayed.
When student names are split, the Last Name column can still be sorted by type and order. You can also display secondary information such as Username. When split names are enabled, separate columns for the split names are respected and displayed in the Gradebook CSV export.
Step-by-step guide
- In Course Navigation, click the Grades tab
- Click the View menu and click Split Student Names tab
- View Student Split names
- If you want to combine the names, unclick the Split Student Names tab
