Question groups allow instructors to randomize questions and to create question banks. Instructors can select all questions or select a specific number (i.e. 5 from the 20 available questions) to randomly display in the assessment.

Creating a Question Group Step-by-Step Guide
- Open the Respondus file containing the questions
- Click on the Settings Tab at the top of Respondus. Then click the Question Groups link.
The following window will open:- From the Random Blocks setting, select Add New Set.
- Enter the number of the question to be used at the beginning of the set.
- Enter the number of the question to be used at the end of the set.
- Enter how many questions total will be used for the exam.
- Enter to point value for the questions in the set.
Select Add New Set.
Note: You will then see a list of the newly created Question Group/Set, indicated by Set letter “A.” Repeat the steps above if you’d like to add another question set, when completed these will be indicated by another letter.
- Click OK to continue creating your test.
Modifying or Deleting a Question Set Step-by-Step Guide
You may also make changes to a preexisting question set by following the instructions below:
- Select an existing set to modify (as indicated by "A" in the image below)
- As needed, update the number of the first and last questions to be used, update how many questions from the question set should be randomly selected and update the point value per question (as indicated by "B" in the image below).
- Save your changes (as indicated by "C" in the image below), or if you wish to delete the question set altogether, select Delete Set (as indicated by "D" in the image below).
- Press OK to save your changes (as indicated by "E" in the image below).
