The Panopto editor allows for web based editing from any Mac or Windows computer of Panopto Recordings.

The Panopto Editor lets you create multiple versions, called "edits", of recorded sessions. The edit called “default” is created automatically, and contains the entire recording. You can modify the default or create additional edits without affecting the original session content. Below are step by step instructions or you can watch the Getting Started: Edit A Video tutorial from Panopto.

Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Log into MyClasses, select the desired course, and click Panopto Recordings from the course navigation.
  2. Move the cursor over the desired recording so the video menu appears and select Edit.
An arrow points to the Edit tab after clicking the three dots on a video.

TIP: By default, the entire recording is an automatically selected segment (portion of video that you want to keep).
  3. Click the scissors icon to enable cutting tools.
    Scissors in Panopto edit menu.

  4. To remove the beginning and end of a recording, click from the bar at the beginning or end of the time line and drag it inward to the point at which you want the updated recording to begin or end.
Arrows indicate inward from the start and end of the Panopto recording.

The beginning and ending are amended, and eliminated portions are grayed out.

  5. To delete middle portions of your presentation when the scissors are selected, click on the video timeline at the beginning of the section you'd like to remove and drag to highlight the section you’d like to delete. Again, the eliminated portions are grayed out.
An arrow indicates clicking and dragging in the middle of the video timeline.

  6. The final result is two segments (numbers one and two) that will be included.

  7. Click "Apply" to overwrite the original recording, or “Revert” to restore old settings.
Apply and Revert buttons on the Panopto Edit menu.
