Enabling Viewer Completion Affirmation for Recordings

The Viewer Completion Affirmation (VSA) is a feature in Panopto to ensure users watch videos in their entirety. This feature prompts viewers to confirm they’ve watched the entire video, providing interactive validation. This feature can be enabled at the folder or recording level in settings.

Step-by-Step Instructions to enable at the folder level:
Login to MyClasses Canvas, select the desired course and select Panopto Recordings.
Select the more actions icon and select the Settings button.
Select the Settings option on the left menu and locate the Completion Affirmation option.
Select On from the drop-down menu.
Click X in the top right corner to close the Settings window. The setting automatically saves. All recordings in this folder will have the confirmation affirmation applied.
Step-by-Step Instructions to enable at the recording level:
Login to MyClasses Canvas, select the desired course and select Panopto Recordings.
Locate the desired recording, move your mouse over the video and select the Settings icon.
Select Manage on the left menu and locate the Completion Affirmation option.
Select On from the drop-down menu.
Click X in the top right corner to close the Settings window. The setting automatically saves and enables the setting for this recording.
Viewer perspective when Confirmation Affirmation is enabled:
When a viewer navigates and plays a video that has VCA enabled, a prompt will appear informing that they must watch the entire video.
When the viewer completes watching the video, a prompt will appear to confirm they have watched the video in its entirety.
Viewing Completion Report:
Locate the desired recording, move your mouse over the video and select the Settings icon.
Select Manage on the left menu and locate the Viewer completion option.
The report will display the viewers names, amount of time the viewer watched the video and confirmation of affirm watching the entire video.
