Assessments within MyClasses (quiz, test, exam, etc.) are graded and uses the Quizzes tool. This guide will provide instructions on creating a Quiz in MyClasses.

Step by Step Instructions:

  1. Select Quizzes from the Course Navigation menu on the left side of your MyClasses Course.

The course navigation menu on MyClasses with Quizzes circled in blue.
    Course Navigation menu
  2. Select +Quiz in the top right of the screen.

  3. Begin creating your assessment by customizing the following:

    1. Enter the name of our assessment as the Assignment Name

    2. Identify the total number of possible points for the quiz. Please note that the total number of points can be whatever you want regardless of the number of questions or points within the assessment. For example, if you want all Reading Quizzes to be worth 10 points, you can enter 10 for Points even if various assessments have 12, 15, or 17 questions.

    3. Determine how the grade will be displayed (points, percentage, etc.)

    4. Select Manage Access To

    5. Identify who can take the quiz under "Assign to", typically everyone.

    6. Specify the due date

    7. Specify the dates in which the assessment will open to students (Available from) and close to students (Until).

The layout of the quiz menu with each step being marked with a blue letter.
New Quizzes Layout with ‘Assign To’ Tab open

  4. After configuring your quiz, click Build to create or edit the assessment.

  5. If desired, click the pencil on the right to edit the instructions or any questions. Be sure to select "Done" once you're finished editing.

  6. Click the blue plus button to add a question. There are various question types from which you can select. If you want to randomize questions and/or select a specific number of questions from a group of questions you will need to use Item Banks.

  7. Once you have added all of your questions, you can adjust your Settings or click the Return button in the top right to return to your MyClasses course area. Once all questions and settings are established, remember to Publish your assessment.

NOTE: For those who may still have access to Classic Quizzes, to tell if a quiz is a new quiz or a classic quiz, go to your Quizzes page and check the shading of the rocket next to the quiz name. If it is shaded in it is a new quiz, if the rocket is not shaded it is a classic quiz.
