Workday-HCM: Talent & Performance Management for HR

Overview:

This document explains how the Talent Partner and Talent Administrator can start a performance review, disciplinary action, or performance improvement plan for a worker.

 

The recommended browser for accessing Workday is Google Chrome. However, Mozilla Firefox and Apple Safari may also be used.

Start Performance Review (from Task)

Note: Refer to your institution’s handbook or polices regarding performance review practices.

 

  1. Enter Start Performance Review for Employee in the Search bar and select the task.

  2. The Start Performance Review for Employee pop up displays.

  3. Fill in the following fields on the pop-up:

    1. Employee: use the Prompt to select the Employee to start the Performance Review for.

Note: You may also enter the employee’s name into the Employee field.

b. Review Template: use the Prompt to select the appropriate Review Template.

c. Period Start Date: use the Calendar to select the Period Start Date for the Performance Review for the employee.

d. Period End Date: use the Calendar to select the Period End Date for the Performance Review for the employee.

  1. Select Submit.

Notes:

  • After submission, the Employee will receive a task in My Tasks to complete their self-evaluation.

  • Once the Employee completes their self-evaluation, the Manager will complete their Manager Evaluation.

  • Once evaluations have been complete, the performance review will be sent for review.

  • Next, the worker will be notified to complete the Performance Review Acknowledgement. See Performance Evaluation-Worker job aid for more details.

 

Note: Refer to your institution’s handbook or polices regarding performance review practices.

 

  1. Enter the Worker’s Name in the Search bar and select the Worker.

  2. The Worker’s profile displays.

  3. Select Actions under the Worker Profile.

  4. Hover over Talent under Actions and choose Start Performance Review.

 

  1. The Start Performance Review for Employee pop up displays.

  2. Employee: automatically populates.

  3. Select your institution’s Annual Performance Review Template:

    1. UBALT: Select Annual Performance Review and then UBALT Annual Performance Review.

    2. BSU: Select Annual Performance Review and then BSU Annual Performance Review.

    3. CSU: Select Annual Performance Review and then CSU Annual Performance Review.

    4. FSU: Select Annual Performance Review and then FSU Annual Performance Review.

    5. SU: Select Annual Performance Review and then SU Annual Performance Review.

Note: Depending on the institution, there may be performance review templates for supervisory and non-supervisory roles that can be selected based on the worker’s job.

  1. Select the Period Start and Period End Date by using the Calendar.

Note: Review your institution’s employee handbook and policies for information regarding specific date ranges.

  1. Select Submit.

Note: The worker will be notified to complete the Performance Review Acknowledgement. See Performance Evaluation-Worker job aid for more details.

 

Start Disciplinary Action (from Task)

Notes:

  • Human Resources can initiate the disciplinary action for a Worker and additional approvals will need to be completed.

  • Please refer to your worker handbook for any disciplinary policies for your institution.

 

  1. Enter Start Disciplinary Action for Employee in the Search bar and select the task.

  2. The Start Disciplinary Action for Employee pop up displays.

  3. Fill in the following fields:

    1. Employee: use the Prompt to select the Employee to start the Disciplinary Action for.

    2. Review Template: use the Prompt to select the appropriate Disciplinary Action Review Template.

    3. Disciplinary Action Reasons: use the Prompt to select the appropriate Disciplinary Action Reasons.

    4. (Optional) Related Disciplinary Actions: use the Prompt to select the appropriate Related Disciplinary Actions.

    5. Period Start Date: use the Calendar to select the Period Start Date of the Disciplinary Action for the employee.

    6. Period End Date: use the Calendar to select the Period End Date of the Disciplinary Action for the employee.

  1. Select Submit.

Note: Once submitted, the manager will complete the manager evaluation.

 

Notes:

  • Please refer to your worker handbook for any disciplinary policies for your institution.

  • Human Resources can initiate the disciplinary action for a Worker and additional approvals will need to be completed.

 

  1. Enter the Worker’s Name into the Search bar and select the Worker from the search results.

  2. The Worker Profile displays.

  3. Select Actions under the Worker’s name and job title in the blue pane.

  4. Hover over Talent under Actions and choose Start Disciplinary Action.

  5. Start Disciplinary Action for Employee pop up displays.

  6. Select the Review Template Prompt and choose the appropriate disciplinary action.

  7. Select the Disciplinary Action Reasons Prompt and choose Reasons for employee’s country.

    1. Select United States.

    2. Select Institution.

    3. Select appropriate Reason for the disciplinary action.

Note: Selecting Suspension/Termination for the Review Template launches the Termination business process for the worker after the disciplinary action process is completed. Refer to the Termination Job Aid for more information.

  1. (Optional) Select any previous or connected disciplinary action using the Related Disciplinary Actions Prompt.

  2. Select the Period Start and Period End Date by using the Calendar.

  1. Select Submit.

Notes: Once initiated, the worker’s manager will be notified to complete a Manager Evaluation for Disciplinary Action.

 

 

Start Performance Improvement Plan (from Task)

Notes:

  • Refer to your institution’s handbook or polices regarding performance improvement plan.

  • This action is used when a worker receives an unsatisfactory rating in a performance review or has shown a decline in performance that needs to be addressed.

 

  1. Enter Start Performance Improvement Plan for Employee in the Search bar and select the task.

  2. The Start Performance Improvement Plan for Employee pop up displays.

  3. Fill in the following information:

    1. Employee: use the Prompt to select the Employee to start the Performance Improvement Plan for.

    2. Review Template: use the Prompt to select the appropriate Review Template.

    3. Period Start Date: use the Calendar to select the Period Start Date of the Performance Improvement Plan for the employee.

    4. Period End Date: use the Calendar to select the Period End Date of the Performance Improvement Plan for the employee.

  1. Select Submit.

Note: After submission, the Manager will complete the Manager Evaluation.

  2. The worker’s name automatically populates into the Employee field.

  3. Select the Prompt for Review Template and choose Performance Improvement Plan.

  4. Select the Period Start Date using the Calendar.

  5. Select the Period End Date using the Calendar.

  1. Select Submit.

Note: Once initiated, the worker’s manager will be notified to complete a Manager Evaluation for Performance Improvement Plan.

 

View Previous Performance Reviews, Disciplinary Actions, or Performance Improvement Plans

  1. Enter the Worker’s Name in the Search bar and select the Worker.

  2. The Worker’s Profile page displays.

  3. Select the Performance tab in the blue pane.

  1. Select the appropriate tab that you would like to view for that worker.
