Workday-HCM: Performance Review Manager
Overview:
This document will instruct managers on navigating to, initiating, and completing the Performance Review for employees.
The recommended browser for accessing Workday is Google Chrome. However, Mozilla Firefox and Apple Safari may also be used.
Considerations by Institution
Based on each institution’s performance review workflow process, please review the notes in each section to determine any specific call outs for your institution.

Manager - Initiate Employee Performance Review
Note: Refer to your institution’s handbook or polices regarding performance review practices.
Enter the Employee’s Name into the search bar and select the employee.
Select Actions.
Hover over Talent under Actions and choose Start Performance Review.
The Start Performance Review for Employee pop up displays.
Employee: automatically populates.
Review Template: select the template for your institution.
Period Start Date: use the Calendar to select the Period Start Date.
Period End Date: use the Calendar to select the Period End Date.
Note: See employee handbook or policies for information regarding specific date ranges.
Select Submit.
Notes:
Once initiated, the employee is notified to complete the Self Evaluation for Performance Review. See Performance Evaluation for Employee job aid for more details.
The Manager will then receive a notification to complete the Manager Evaluation once the Employee has completed their Self Evaluation. Please refer to the Complete Manager Evaluation for Employee Performance Review section of this job aid for more information.
Complete Manager Evaluation for Employee Performance Review
In My Tasks under All Items, select the Manager Evaluation item.
Select Get Started.
The Complete Manager Evaluation page displays.
Review and complete each section and continue selecting Next until all sections that display for you are completed.
Select Submit.
Notes:
This will go through a workflow that contains action steps and tasks in order to complete the business process.
The Manager’s Manager will receive a notification to review the Complete Manager Evaluation.
For FSU Exempt Employee’s, the HCM Division Executive will review the manager’s evaluation.
For Ubalt, the HR Talent Partner will review the manager evaluation for performance reviews that have the rating of below standards.
The Manager will be notified to meet with the employee to discuss the performance review.
The employee then has the opportunity to provide comments.
The Manager has the opportunity to provide comments.
For SU, the Manager will create a plan of action for below standard annual performance reviews.
After approving the Manager Evaluation, the employee will receive a notification to acknowledge the Performance Review. See Performance Review-Employee job aid for more information.
