You may have an existing quiz or want to create a new quiz (using the New Quiz format) which will utilize questions that you have stored in an Item bank. You may want to import only one question, a group of questions, or have the quiz randomly select questions for a section of the quiz. All of this is possible using a New Quiz and Item Banks!

Prior to importing questions it is advised to make sure the Item banks you will access are shared with your course. Refer to the KB article "Sharing Your Item Banks" for information on how to do this.

This describes the process to follow when you want to include specific questions in a quiz.

  1. Open or create the quiz you wish to import the questions into (refer to directions in the “Create a New Quiz” how-to guide on how to create a new quiz)
  2. Click the red “Build” button in the lower right corner of the page.

  3. If you are importing a question into an existing quiz, scroll down to where you want to import a question
  4. Click the blue “+” button  to add a new question.

  5. Click on the folder icon in the upper right corner of the “Insert Content” pop up window

  12. When you are finished importing questions, close the Item Bank page by click the “x” in the upper left corner of the page, and return to your quiz.

  13. Close the quiz by clicking the “Return” button at the top of the page.

To import a group of questions that can be randomized in a quiz:

This describes the process to follow when you want to import all questions of an Item Bank or have a random sample of the questions presented to students.

  1. Complete Steps 1-7 as outlined above for importing individual questions.
  2. Click on the button labeled "+ All/Random".

  3. When this button is selected a question block will appear in your quiz in the right side of your window.
