This is a guide for faculty utilizing Inclusive Access and Cengage MindTap integration with Canvas and would like to reuse course content from a previous semester.

Step I: Copy course content in MyClasses

  1. Login to MyClasses and access your new course for the current semester (destination course.)
  2. Click Settings from the course navigation menu on left.
  3. Click the “Import Course Content” on the right side of the window.
  4. Select the “Copy a Canvas Course” from the Content Type list.
  5. From the list of your available courses, search for and select the course from which content will be copied.
  6. Select “All Content” to copy all course content, or “Select specific content” to copy specific content.
  7. Optionally, you can adjust events and due dates.
  8. Click Import and wait for the process to complete.
  9. Note: if Cengage tool link is not available on the course navigation, click Settings, then click the Navigation tab. Locate the Cengage tool and enable the tool link and click Save.)

Once the course copy process has completed, the next step is to link the MyClasses Canvas Course to a copy of your MindTap course.

Step II: Link the MyClasses course with MindTap course:

  1. In MyClasses, access your course and click the Cengage link from the course navigation menu.
  2. Select your book title from the list of available titles.
  3. Select the option to “Copy from my existing course”.
  4. Select the course from which content will be copied to create a new section in MindTap and link to the course in MyClasses.
  5. Enter the new course information, Course Name, Course Start Date, Course End Date, Time Zone, and any other optional information as you wish.
  6. Click Continue.
  7. Select one of the grade synchronizations with your Canvas gradebook options as needed.
  8. Click Continue. A new copy of a previously used MindTap course has been created and linked to the new course in MyClasses. Also, all MindTap assignments and/or activities linked in the course in MyClasses will now be linked to the new MindTap.
  9. A module with the textbook title and a text heading “Imported on [date]” and a link to the course in MindTap
  10. Move the course link to the “Inclusive Access – Cengage MindTap” module under the “Create/Register account with Cengage MindTap page.
