IDD KB How-to Guide

Migrate - Classic Quiz with Question Groups

Question groups do not exist in New Quizzes. Instead, a question group is the same as an Item Bank where all questions that are to be randomly distributed are stored together. When migrating a Classic Quiz with question groups, each question group will be convert in the New Quiz to an Item bank. There are two ways in which you can migrate a Class Quiz with Question Groups:

  1. In your MyClasses course, select Quizzes. Navigate to the Classic Quiz that needs to be migrated, then click the three dots to the right of it (a) and select Migrate (b).

  2. When the Classic Quiz is finished migrating, the duplicate New Quiz will appear with a filled in rocket icon. The original Classic Quiz will remain in the course with the outline of a rocket icon. Faculty are encouraged to review the New Quiz version of the assessment before deleting the Classic Quiz version.

Some Classic Quiz questions with embedded videos may not bring the video when migrating to a New Quiz.

Method 2: Step-by-step guide

  1. Navigate to the "Settings" tab in MyClasses.

  2. On the right hand side, click the "Export Course Content" button.

  3. Under "Export Type", click "Quiz" (a). Then select the quiz to export (b). *You may only export one quiz at a time to change to New Quizzes.

  4. Select "Create Export" (c).

  5. Then click the red "New Export" button and save the files to your computer.

  6. Create another quiz, but this time as a New Quiz.  Select Build.

  7. In the top right select the three dots then click "Import Content."
  8. Select Browse.  Navigate to where you saved your exported quiz, select it, then click "Import."

  9. Once you have imported  your Classic Quiz into New Quizzes, it will open that quiz in the Build window for you to edit it.

  10. You will also now notice in your list of quizzes that you will have two copies of this quiz, the original Classic Quiz with the outlined rocket icon, and the New Quiz with the filled in rocket icon.

Item banks are anything you want to randomize, rather in Classic Quizzes, Question banks could be an entire unit of questions.
