  1. First, create a Quiz or locate an existing Quiz and select Build.

  2. Click the (a) blue plus button to add a question and (b) select the Item Banks icon (above the list of question types).

  3. Create or locate and Item Bank (similar to a folder) that contains the questions you want to use in the assessment. When creating an Item Bank it is recommended that you add the course and other syntax to distinguish Item Banks from one another as they no longer sit within a single course. For example, questions related to COMM 100 using the OER Communication in the Real World might have an Item Bank title of “COMM 100 CRW Chapter 1”.

    1. To add a question to the Item Bank, select the blue plus icon and create your desired question.

  4. Once you have located the Item Bank with existing questions, click on the title to see the questions.

    1. To add a single question from the item bank to the assessment:

    2. To add the entire Item Bank to randomize the delivery of the questions to the students, select the All/Random button:

  5. After adding all of the desired questions from Item Banks, click the X to close the Item Banks window.

  6. For the randomized questions from an Item Bank, locate the desired Item Bank in the list of questions and select the pencil icon to edit.

    1. To use and randomize all questions in the Item Bank, select Use all questions under Question selection.

    2. To select a specific number of questions from the entire Item Bank, select Randomly select questions under Question selection.

    3. Establish the number of points for each question in the Item Bank and click Done to save.

  7. Continue adding questions. Once you have added all the questions to your assessment from Item Banks, you can adjust your Settings or click the Return button in the top right to return to your MyClasses course area.
