HCM: Service Dates Change

Overview:

This document explains how Human Resources can edit employee Service Dates in Workday. Service Dates can be defined as specific affiliation dates that an employee has with their institution (e.g. Hire Date or Termination Date.)

The recommended browser for accessing Workday is Google Chrome. However, Mozilla Firefox and Apple Safari may also be used.

Edit Service Dates

Note: In Workday, there are numerous Service Dates that can be edited by Human Resources. Those Service Dates include but are not limited to:

Service Dates

Description

Hire Date

The most recent hire date of the employee.

Original Hire Date

The hire date from the earliest hire event for the employee.

Continuous Service Date

Institution Service Date (does not include state service). Used for institution service awards.

Length of Service

Length of service at institution. The time between the continuous service date and current date (or termination date if earlier than current date) for the employee.

Benefits Service Date

State Service Date (original hire date at USM or adjusted based on other state agency service).

Company Service Date

USM Service Date (for tuition remission eligibility).

Time Off Service

State Service Date Plus Fixed Term Service and Temporary Service >.5 FTE.

Termination Date

The last day of employment for the employee.

  1. Enter Edit Service Dates in the Search Bar and select the task.

  1. The Edit Service Dates pop up displays.

  2. Select the Worker Prompt to choose a Worker.

Note: You can also enter the Worker’s Name into the field.

Note: Hire Date and Length of Service cannot be changed.

  1. Attach any supporting documentation by dropping in files or choosing Select files.
