Tip! You can click on the images in this article to see them larger and with more detail.

TimelyCare added to MyClasses

Counseling Services collaborated with ID&D to give easy access to TimelyCare by adding a link on the left global navigation in MyClasses. Students can click on this link and then log into TimelyCare with their SU email address. Learn more about TimelyCare from Counseling Services.

VitalSource New Service from the Bookstore:

The SU Bookstore is implementing Launch Complete with the start of Summer Session.  Launch Complete combines retail offers from our bookstore’s e-commerce system with Inclusive Access titles, allowing students to access, and shop for all their course materials in one place, inside the MyClasses learning management system.  In order to accomplish this, ID&D is adding the VitalSource Course Materials link to the course menu for all courses.  This is an essential tool for ensuring students to see all of their course materials in one location, and not only for our Inclusive Access program. Please be sure to leave this tool in your course.

Student Benefits:

  • Students visit a single, central location inside the LMS to discover 100% of adopted course materials.

  • Students’ personalized booklist provides instant access to some materials and fast, transparent comparison shopping for everything else.

  • Inclusive Access items are available to access on day one with simple opt-out tools within the LMS.

Campus Benefits:

  • Give exposure to both digital and print course materials through use of a central location providing greater transparency to course materials.

  • Create a virtual student shopping experience inside the center of the student ecosystem, the LMS.

  • Establish another touch point to maintain HEOA compliance for our institution.

  • Streamline processes with one global link installed in the LMS.

New Quizzes for Assessment

New Quizzes replaces Classic Quizzes for graded assessments. When you copy a course over from a previous semester, assessments will automatically be converted to New Quizzes. Instructors are encouraged to review the Establishing Settings for a Quiz article to ensure you assessments settings are setup properly. Please see our robust resources to learn more about Quizzes or consult with your Instructional Designer.

Changes to “Assign To” (including Modules)

Traditionally when you created a quiz, assignment, or graded discussion in MyClasses, at the bottom of your settings page you could decide who sees the activity, when it would be due, when it would open and close for students. As of July 20, 2024, this feature has changed visually within MyClasses. Instead, you will see options to Manage Access To to adjust these settings. This redesign occurred with the added functionality of being able to assign Modules to students, groups and sections. Please see a comparison of how the setting appears below:

Additionally, you might also see an Assign To button in other spaces within MyClasses, such as above a discussion:

Using Assign To with Modules

Have a combined undergraduate/graduate course or a combined course with multiple sections and want to display information by section? Would you like to display a module of resources based on a pre-assessment? Want to customize modules based on a group project?

As of Fall 2024, faculty can assign modules to individual students, groups and/or sections.

Student Learning Outcomes and sub-SLOs added to MyClasses

In support of General Education courses, the university Student Learning Outcomes have been added to MyClasses. Faculty can faculty can incorporate the sub-student learning outcomes (sub-SLO) into their course, associate them with assignments, discussions, and assessments, and assess students as part of the normal feedback and manage of your course during the semester. We recommend that you consult with your Instructional Designer liaison to utilize outcomes in your course.
