Cloning Groups

Cloning groups is when a group set is purposefully duplicated.  This allows instructors to alter whole group sets for differing reasons without affecting the original group set.

Example use case:

  • An instructor would like to use the similar groups for two different assignments, that are altered slightly. Changing the original group set can cause issues with the first assignment, in this case the best solution would be to clone the original set and assign the altered clone set to the second assignment.

Step-by-step guide

  1. Click on the people tab in your MyClasses.

  2. Then select the groups tab for the set of groups to clone.

  3. Next, click the three dots under the big red " + Group Set " button.

  4. Then click "Clone Groups" and name this copy of your groups however you please.

After doing this you can see there is a new set of groups under the name you set. This is an exact copy of the selected groups. Since this is a copy, you can move around students, change group size, etc. without affecting the original group set.
