Get started with MyLab and Mastering using Inclusive Access through VitalSource - Codeless Access.


The following instructions are for new and returning instructors utilizing Pearson Integration with Inclusive Access for First Day Access. Instructors. Please use the contents to find your starting point. Beginning with these starting points will help you have a successful integration.

Priority Start Actions:

First things First!

  1. Have a Pearson account using your SU email.

    • A Pearson account is needed to create a Pearson Partner Integration course. Verify your existing account at mlm.pearson.com or create a new Pearson account

    • You will not be using the MyLab and Mastering link for this partner integration course. Instead select VitalSource Course Materials.

    • You may need to manage your Canvas navigation links

NOTE: The presence of the MyLab and Mastering link or other Pearson tools and assignments can be confusing for students and is unnecessary for VitalSource Inclusive Access integration. Use the navigation settings in your course to hide or remove the link from students.

Launch Pearson Content:

NOTE: For students to be able to access Pearson course content with codeless Inclusive Access, please make sure you "Launch Courseware" from the VitalSource Course Materials" tool from the course menu.

  1. Enter your MyClasses course and click the VitalSource Course Materials from the course menu on left.

  2. Under My Courses, locate the appropriate Pearson content to pair with your Canvas course.

  3. Select Launch Courseware. 

     

Link User Accounts, if needed

  1. Link your Canvas user account to your existing Pearson account by entering your SU email and Pearson password. 

    • If you have entered an incorrect password, no message will be displayed and selecting sign in will appear to have no effect.

  2. Select Sign In. 

  3. After linking your accounts, select Get Started! 

Create a Copy Course

  1. On the create a course screen, choose one of the following options: 

    • To create a new course, click Select to create a new course for the listed textbook. 

    • To copy an existing course, enter a course ID into the search field. 

  • If you are unsure of the course ID of an existing course: 

    • Sign-in to mlm.pearson.com. Locate your existing course, and your course ID will be displayed as your last name plus 5 digits (ex: Smith12345).  

    • If using another Instructors course ID, ensure that their course is allowed for copy from the course details. 

  1. Select Student-use course type and enter the desired course name, description, and dates.

     

  2. Select Create Course

  3. Wait until your course is created.

You’ll receive an email confirmation when the course is ready.
