PointSolutions (TurningPoint) Classroom Checklist

This guide provides a classroom checklist for faculty utilizing PointSolutions (previously TurningPoint) interactive slides within PowerPoint.

Once you decide you will be utilizing PointSolutions you will need to notify the bookstore to add the PointSolutions Subscription to the required course materials for your course to ensure that students purchase the necessary subscription to participate in the PointSolutions session (this is usually entered in the book adoption form).

PointSolutions Receiver

(Note: A PointSolutions Receiver¡ is needed only if clickers are used; it is not needed for using web enabled devices as a response device.)

Planning - Before the start of the semester:

  1. Create an Instructor PointSolutions Account.

  2. Download and install the PointSolutions App (PC or Mac).

  3. Add a statement in your course syllabus to notify student that you will be utilizing PointSolutions and explain the requirements.

Before Class:

  1. Verify that PointSolutions Desktop App is installed on the instructor's computer in your classroom. Contact IT if apps are not installed on the classroom computer.

  2. Create polling content/questions.

  3. Enable the PointSolutions Registration link to the course navigation in MyClasses.

  4. Add the course in your PointSolutions web dashboard (Note: course must be published to be added to the "Active" courses tab).

First Class Meeting:

Inform students that they must use the PointSolutions Registration link from the course in MyClasses to create/link their PointSolutions Account with their MyClasses account and redeem their PointSolutions subscription.

Before Second Class Meeting:

Students must have a valid PointSolutions subscription AND their PointSolutions and MyClasses accounts are linked.

  1. Check class roster in the PointSolutions Dashboard.

  2. Email students missing subscription and/or their accounts are not linked.

During class:

  1. Run and Save PowerPoint Polling session

  2. Save the Results.

After class:

  1. Access session results.

  2. Upload Grades in MyClasses
