If you have a need to set up a teleconference calls, you have a couple of options.

Skype

For most faculty and staff, Skype is a quick and viable option. Skype is available to install through the Software Center on campus computers, and requires a web camera and a microphone. If your computer is not equipped with one, IT Procurement Services can assist in purchasing one for your computer. Approximate cost for a USB webcam is also found on IT Procurement's current computer configuration sheets.

You will need to use your Microsoft account (usually your faculty or staff account) to login to Skype. If you do not have one, you can create one.

To make a group call, select the new icon (or menu button  on Android) to Add participants, then select the call or video button. Select the group avatar to create a name for your group or to add a group picture.

Polycom Conference Call/Teleconference

The Telecom Office offers a teleconference service for faculty and staff.  This can be used in any of the conference rooms that are fitted with a Polycom (teleconferencing phone) or by requesting one for the call (see below).

Callers within the US are given an 800/866 toll-free number to use. For international callers, the teleconference service we utilize on campus has an International dial-in number (area code 303/Colorado) for individuals to dial into a planned conference call. The international caller is billed for the call to the US by their carrier.

To use this service, submit a work order to our office at least one week prior to the call. When submitting your work order, please include the following:

  • Department
  • Account Code
  • Date and Time of conference call
  • Indicate if you need a call in number, a Polycom (teleconferencing phone) or both. If you need a Polycom (teleconferencing phone), this is billed at $30 per conference call/day.

For more information about this service and costs, please contact us at telecom@salisbury.edu.
