Applying Filters to Your Gradebook View

At different times during your course, you may want to review your gradebook in different ways. The Apply Filters feature in the Gradebook allows you to do this easily by using filter presets. You can also set up your own customized filters!

Step-by-Step Guides:

Selecting Filters

  1. Open your course to the gradebook.

    1. Click on the “Apply Filter” button.

    2. A drop-down list with the filter options will appear.

     

  2. If you select Modules, you will get a list of all modules in your course. Select the module(s) you wish to view.

     

  3. If you select Assignment Groups, you will be able to select one or more from a list of any groupings you have created in your assignments page.

     

  4. If you select Student Groups, you will be able to select one or more from any student groups you created.

     

  5. If you select Status, you can select one or more options based on the identified categories of: Late, Missing, Resubmitted, Dropped, and Excused.

     

  6. If you select Submissions, you can select one or more options based on the identified categories of: Ungraded Submissions, Submissions, No Submissions, and Unposted Grades

     

  7. If you select Start & End Date, you can set dates for each from the pop-up calendar. Make sure you click the red “Apply” button to save the dates.

       

     

  8. After you have made your selection(s), the filter(s) will appear next to the “Apply Filters” button above the gradebook. The gradebook will reflect those filters.

     

Removing Filters

You have two options for removing filters:

  1. To remove individual filters, click on the filter that appears above the gradebook. Click on the “Remove Filter” or uncheck the check mark in front of the filter you want to remove.

     

  2. To remove all filters, click on the “Clear all filters” link on the right side of the gradebook page.

     

Creating Custom Filters

  1. Click on the “Apply Filters” button and select the “Create and Manage Filter Presets”

     

     

  2. A pop-up panel will appear on the right side of your page:

    1. Click on the arrow nest to “Create Filter Preset” to open the selection window

    2. Enter a name for your filter

    3. Make the selections of the filter options you wish to apply

    4. Click the red “Save Filter Preset” button

       

       

  3. Your custom filter will appear at the top of the list when you click the “Apply Filters” button.

     

  4. When selected your gradebook will reflect the custom filter. The options selected for the filters will appear above the gradebook next to the “apply filter” button.
