Preparing an SU laptop for off-campus use
SU laptops used by faculty and staff are equipped with Always-On Global Protect VPN. Always-On allows the laptop to function as though it is on campus even when off campus.
If your laptop does not already have Always-On installed please schedule a time to speak with an IT associate by entering a ticket at https://support.salisbury.edu/.
With Always-On you will notice a globe icon in the system tray by your clock(see photo below). This allows your pc to receive system updates, access the Software Center, and view your drives just as you would on campus.
Once you have taken your computer home, be sure to connect it to your wireless network and then restart the pc. This will allow it to connect to the Always-On VPN from start up. Always-On requires a network connection, either wired or wireless, to function.
Please note that even when your device is off campus it is sent updates weekly for it to remain in compliance. IT requests that you restart your device EVERY Friday when you are done for the day. After the device has restarted please leave it at the login screen, connected to the internet, for updates to be received.
